Preserving Social Security

I strongly oppose any and all efforts to privatize Social Security. Although the Bush Administration and its allies in Congress have tried to dismantle Social Security with risky schemes, I will never do anything to weaken the commitment America has made to its retirees and senior citizens. Social Security is vital to the success of American families, and for decades has provided dignity to our retirees and a safety net to families struck by tragedy.

In Congress, I will work to ensure the long-term stability and certainty of this crucial program, rather than gambling people's futures on risky, expensive privatization schemes
